Exterior Inspection

Under the Hood

  • Look for oil leaks, corrosion, and worn belts in the engine
  • Check oil, coolant, transmission fluid, and brake fluid levels
  • Inspect battery terminals for signs of corrosion
  • Verify radiator and hoses are intact and not brittle
  • Examine the exhaust system underneath for rust or excessive soot buildup

Test Drive Check List

  • Listen for unusual sounds when starting the car
  • Test braking, does it stop smoothly without pulling to one side?
  • Ensure steering is responsive and doesn’t feel loose
  • Verify smooth acceleration and gear shifts (manual or automatic).
  • Drive over bumps to test suspension for excessive bouncing
  • If possible, drive at higher speeds to check stability and handling
